Our Philosophy:
Our philosophy is simple: We create beauty. Our designs start with a beautiful aesthetic, and in the end, each product exists to add beauty to our world. We consider all phases of a product’s existence, and engineer beauty and goodness into each. We do not consider sustainability and human rights to be our “edge” or “niche,” but work to build a healthy, viable business built on principles of high-quality products, fair prices, and ethical means to that end.
Product creation:
The creation of each product must positively contribute to lives of each person who touches it from beginning to end, and the materials for our products must be sustainably sourced to the best of our current ability. The supply chain and material origins are painstakingly researched and carefully weighed for the most positive impact throughout the manufacturing process and for the end-product. We are proud to present transparent information about our supply chain, materials, and production on our product information pages and to inquiring parties.
Life of the product:
We create beauty to last. In the end, the most sustainable product is one that does not end up in a landfill, but is functional and beautiful for multiple lifetimes. In addition to using ethically and responsible sourced materials and processes to create our products, we aim to create high-quality and durable products that can be thoroughly enjoyed and even passed down to the next generation, spreading beauty and joy for years to come.
Textile take-back program:
We recycle/ up-cycle our excess fabric and textile products, and invite you to do the same! We will take back any used Lo Home textile product that you no longer have a need for, along with any other textile products that you can fit into the Lo Home take-back program pre-paid return envelope. Please contact us at info@shoplohome.com for a pre-paid textile return envelope.
Packaging:
Safely delivering fragile home goods around the world is a tricky feat, but we are committed to making sure that your order arrives safely to your door in environmentally-friendly packaging. We do not use plastic in our box packaging. En lieu of bubble wrap and styrofoam, we use recycled paper cut in a hive pattern which creates a thick cushioned wrap and our packing peanuts are biodegradable (instantly dissolve in water) made from cornstarch. All of our paper products are recycled and are recyclable, and our bubble mailers are 100% recycled and are recyclable. We encourage you to recycle all Lo Home packaging.
Our sustainable studio:
We are committed to walking a path towards sustainability each day in our studio. Here are a few strategies we implement between 8 and 5:
Our studio (including kilns) is powered by wind-energy. We recycle all cardboard, styrofoam, paper, metal, plastic, textiles, and ceramics that we receive and generate. Our ceramics and many of our textile products are made in-house or locally to reduce the footprint created by shipping materials and products to and fro. We constantly seek to reduce, reuse and recycle in our production processes and make purchasing and partnering decisions with sustainability in mind.
